The administration of Yekaterinburg terminated the agreement on providing the local society Memorial (a foreign agent, a federal organization entered in the register of foreign agents and liquidated by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation) with premises in the city center, which the organization has occupied since 2005. The reason for the eviction was the debt of human rights defenders on rent. In addition, the mayor’s office plans to find a more “reasonable” use for the premises. Alexei Mosin, head of the Ural Society, believes that human rights activists are under pressure and plans to appeal the eviction notice.
