Meizu company, absorbed by Geely holding, announced, which will stop the development and production of mobile equipment. The Meizu 21 Pro, Meizu 22 and Meizu 23 smartphones, which are in the process of creation, will not be released; work on them has been stopped.

The head of Xingji Meizu Group, Shen Ziyu, explained the decision to transform the brand by changes in the smartphone market. According to the top manager, consumers have become less likely to change devices, on average once every 51 months. Meanwhile, smartphone innovation has become an arms race across multiple dimensions – more memory, more sensors, faster charging. Along with this, the struggle for the client has intensified – trolling and identifying the shortcomings of competing products are being used.

In the future, Meizu will focus on developing products based on artificial intelligence. The premiere of a proprietary mobile operating system with AI technologies is planned for 2024, as well as the presentation of the first hardware product based on AI.

Let us remember that Meizu was founded in 2003, but over time it found itself in the shadow of competitors from Xiaomi and Huawei. In 2022, Hubei Xingji Shidai Technology, created by the founder of the automaker Geely Eric Lee, bought 79% of shares of smartphone manufacturer Meizu in order to use the company’s developments in its cars.
