Four teams from the capital of Chuvashia participated in the final stage of the competition. The first in the multiplayer computer game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive were athletes from the Nash Stand up association, and Konstantin Gerasimov was recognized as the best gamer. MegaFon provided fast internet for the tournament — the download speed reached 300 Mbps.
The preliminary stage of the competition took three days: during this time, the participants played remotely, connecting to a common server. Of the eight teams that entered the final, four reached the final – they had to fight on the site of IT-Polis (Regional Development Institute). The struggle among cybersportsmen was serious: the fight on the Web lasted about three hours. The process was coordinated by the judges of the republican branch of the Federation of Computer Sports of Russia.
“We held an esports tournament for the first time. It was an initiative of young employees of the city’s enterprises. The experiment was a success, and the organizing team plans to hold championships more often,” said Svetlana Fardzinova, Chairman of the Coordinating Council of Working Youth under the Cheboksary Administration.
“The tournament was held on the territory of our partner IT-Polis. In the shortest possible time, our technical specialists provided high-speed Internet and a reliable communication channel to the participant of the competition. Based on the anonymous traffic of subscribers, we see how interest in online gaming is growing in the region, and we support such initiatives,” commented Mikhail Rusinov, Director of MegaFon in Chuvashia.
As the operator’s big data shows, residents of the republic download 85 times more data on popular gaming resources on a monthly basis than a year earlier. And Discord, in which gamers communicate, is traditionally included in the top most popular messengers along with Telegram, WhatsApp and Viber.
