Megafon launched its own brand of push-button phones

Mobile operator “Megaphone» developed a line of push-button telephones under the Fontel brand. The representative of the operator told Vedomosti about this. The first Fontel FP 200 model has already gone on sale, it can be purchased at the MegaFon online store, the company said. In February, the devices will appear in all the operator’s salons.
The Fontel FP 200 phone is equipped with a color display, a slot for two SIM cards, a 600 mAh battery, and the ability to use a memory card up to 32 GB. The implementation of the project, the development and supply of phones will be handled by MegaFon’s subsidiary Revo Charge.
A total of eight Fontel-branded models will go on sale in 2023. The line will include flip phones, as well as those equipped with additional protection – shockproof and waterproof. The cost of devices will be from 590 rubles. up to 2 990 rub.
“The Fontel line is designed to meet the current needs of users and can compete with retail devices, as well as completely replace the products of brands that have left the Russian market. We expect that by the end of the year Fontel will account for up to 50% of sales of push-button phones in our retail, and we are considering the possibility of opening sales in other large retail chains in Russia and the CIS countries,” said David Borzilov, Sales Director of MegaFon.
The share of push-button phones in MegaFon’s retail network accounts for about 15-17%, the press service specified. Domestic “dialers” began to dominate the Russian market at the end of 2022, Vedomosti wrote earlier. According to the preliminary results of GS Group for 2022, Russian brands of push-button mobile phones accounted for about 60% in monetary terms and 71% in units. Russians most often bought teXet, F+ and Tokky. Itel, Nokia and Philips, owned by Chinese conglomerates, competed with domestic brands.
