We receive a land plot from the Moscow government and the rights to this stadium. And instead of renting a field in Fili, we will get a wonderful stadium, which will be the pearl of Moscow and all of Russia. It will train not only the athletes of the Fili club, but also Slava, Spartak, and other teams. Including children’s.
“The new facility will be implemented on the site of the stadium, which is located on Bolshaya Filevskaya Street,” said Vasily Slavin, project manager. “It will be a heated field measuring 120 by 70 meters, a safety zone, a scoreboard and a seating area for 500 seats. In the future, perhaps there will be more. Under the stands there will be several coaching and refereeing rooms, and a rugby museum. The project implementation period is 1.5-2 years, and we hope that in 2024 it will sparkle with bright colors.”
About the sports base in Sochi, where four new rugby fields will be located. “This is one of the key issues in the development of rugby in Russia,” said Artemyev. — There are not many territories in our country where it is safe for athletes to play in the winter. We will ask Mikhail Vasilyevich Dremov, who is a member of the board of trustees of our federation, to tell us how the work is going on preparing the base in Sochi, where excellent rugby fields will be located.”
“It is impossible not to love and support such a beautiful game as rugby, because it unites everyone,” said Dremov. — We are planning in the near future to strengthen the capacity to support regional teams. Now the land registration process is underway and 7.2 hectares are being transferred to us. Rugby, of course, should have its own base. And now we have 7.5 hectares, and we have developed the concept of building four rugby fields.”
In Russia, snow and beach rugby will be intensively developed. Igor Artemiev, President of the RDF, spoke about this during a meeting of the Supreme Council: “The idea is that even today, according to the methodology and approaches, snow and beach rugby are separate sports. Why not beach rugby at the Summer Olympics? Our goal is to be ahead of the curve and make rugby a three-time Olympic sport. It is necessary to create a separate infrastructure, issue methodological advice and clear rules, train athletes in a different way, create regional federations. As soon as the window of opportunity opens in Europe, take up the flag and develop snow and beach rugby.”
A special project to support and develop the Moscow club Spartak. “We have adopted a special project regarding the development of Spartak,” Artemyev said. — Because it is a great club and it is loved by millions of fans in our country. And this is being done to increase competition in our major league and premier league. To do this, we need Fili, Spartak, and other teams from the regions. And Samara guys, and Lipetsk, and, of course, from St. Petersburg.
And about money, Igor Artemiev, President of the FRR, at a meeting of the Supreme Council, said that the budget of the organization for the next year will be less than the existing one by about 15 percent, but a significant part will be directed to creating a serious reserve of funds: “I can say that funding for the next year will be less, by 15 percent. But this is not critical. But if the international agenda starts, then there will not be enough money for the domestic calendar. And something will have to be squeezed, but this is our task. We must do everything so that clubs and national teams do not lack anything. As it was in previous years. I do not know how many more years we will have, but I hope that the situation will be better. And there are reasons for this. But we must prepare all the necessary documents by January 27 … And in fact, this will be our budget task. This will be our managerial task, and we will cope with it.”
