Medvedev: Ukrainian authorities have become enemies of Christ and the Orthodox faith

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev commented on the decree of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky on the ban on religious organizations allegedly associated with Russia. In his opinion, the authorities of Ukraine, forcing people to attend the “correct” churches, have become enemies of the Orthodox faith.

“The current Ukrainian authorities have openly become enemies of Christ and the Orthodox faith. This is how they should be treated by the whole of Christendom.” wrote he is in his Telegram channel.

Medvedev said that the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) began when former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko “sacrificed” the UOC and the Minsk agreements for the sake of “his failed re-election.” According to the deputy chairman of the Security Council, Ukrainian politicians “have never been distinguished by the strength of faith” and “prayed only for loot.”

“And of course, Kyiv Christ-sellers should remember the words of Scripture: “And My eye will not spare you, and I will not have mercy. I will repay you according to your ways, and your abominations will be with you; and you will know that I am the Lord punisher” (Ezek. 7:9),” Medvedev summed up his message with a quote from the Old Testament of the Bible.

December 1, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky approved the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on restrictive measures against representatives of religious organizations that are allegedly associated with Russia.

Earlier today, the SBU conducted new searches at the facilities of the UOC in Zhytomyr, Rivne and Zakarpattia regions. As a result, the Metropolitan of the Kirovograd diocese of the UOC presented accusations of “subversive activities against the state and inciting religious hatred.” Later Ukrainian media reportedthat the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine imposed sanctions against the governor of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra Pavel (Lebed) and about ten more clergy of the UOC.

In addition, information appeared in the media and social networks that the SBU allegedly takes hostage Orthodox priests in Ukraine in order to subsequently exchange them for Ukrainian military personnel.
