Medvedev threatened to strike at nuclear facilities when confirming the attack on the Smolensk nuclear power plant

If an attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to attack the Smolensk nuclear power plant is confirmed, then Russia should consider the option of a retaliatory strike simultaneously on several Ukrainian nuclear power plants and on nuclear facilities in Eastern Europe. This statement was made by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

“If an attempt to attack the Smolensk (Desnogorsk) NPP with NATO missiles is confirmed, it is necessary to consider the scenario of a simultaneous Russian strike on the South Ukrainian NPP, Rivne NPP and Khmelnitsky NPP, as well as on nuclear facilities in Eastern Europe. There’s nothing to be ashamed of,” wrote he is in his Telegram channel.

Earlier today, the Mash Telegram channel reported on an attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to strike at the Desnogorsk nuclear power plant in the Smolensk region and a military airfield in the Kaluga region. Presumably, Kyiv attacked the objects with Storm Shadow missiles. The resource writes that this is indicated by the debris at the site of the fall of weapons.

According to Mash, both shells were shot down by a Russian air defense system over the village of Bytosh in the Bryansk region around 14:00. The first fell into the field, and the second – into the territory of the sawmill.

Earlier today, Governor of the Bryansk Region Alexander Bogomaz informed about two downed missiles in the region. According to him, as a result of the fall of one of them, a sawmill in the village of Bytosh was completely destroyed. The governor said no one was hurt in the incident.
