Medvedev: the unstable Middle East turned out to be very useful for the United States

Deputy Head of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, in an article for Izvestia, outlined his point of view on Washington’s policy towards the Middle East.
Medvedev stressed that no US administration has ever been or will be interested in a final settlement of the conflict in this region. Instead, the unstable and explosive Middle East has become an integral part of American geopolitical strategy, bringing influence and big money, he said.
Medvedev also drew attention to the fact that for decades the United States has chosen to maintain controlled instability in the region rather than solve its problems. This turned out to be very beneficial for American diplomacy and the military-industrial complex. Due to this policy, the United States ignored the said resolution of the UN General Assembly of November 29, 1947 on the division of historical Palestine into Arab and Jewish states.
