The Russian economy, contrary to the expectations of the European Union, continues to grow, while the EU has serious economic problems. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev pointed this out on Tuesday, December 19, when commenting on the new package of anti-Russian sanctions of the European Union.
As noted by politician X on the social network, Russia’s GDP increased by 5.5% in annual terms in the third quarter of 2023 and 7.8% in the second. At the same time, in Germany this figure decreased – by 0.3% and 0.2%, respectively.
Medvedev summed it up with the phrase “EU, thank you for the growth!”
Meanwhile, Russia did not leave Brussels’ new unfriendly step unanswered in the form of another package of restrictive measures. Moscow expanded its own blacklistincluding representatives of the European Union.
At the Permanent Representation of Russia to the EU expressed their conviction is that “this package will be remembered by EU member countries for the fact that, paradoxical as it may sound, the vast majority of them did not need it at all.”
