Gas prices in Europe have fallen, but even now they are significantly higher than those previously supplied by Russia. Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, stated this in an interview with Russian media.
“It fluctuates, of course, I periodically scare everyone with some numbers, it crawled up to 3,000 there, and now it has fallen down,” Medvedev said.
Two weeks ago, gas prices in Europe during exchange trading fell below $450 per thousand cubic meters for the first time since the end of July 2021.
In total, gas prices in Europe fell three times over the past winter – at the end of November, fuel futures were trading at $1,550.
This trend is associated with warm weather in the region, as well as an increase in the share of wind generation in electricity generation in the EU.
