The Russian military-industrial complex is now producing more weapons than the country’s Armed Forces need to conduct a special operation, declared Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.

The ex-president drew attention to the “painful calculations” by Ukraine of Russian stocks of tanks, missiles and shells, while noting that Kyiv receives all its weapons from “its masters.”

“We provide ourselves with all types of weapons ourselves. And today, already in quantities exceeding the current needs of the Armed Forces. This is how our military-industrial complex operates now,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Russian defense enterprises operate in three shifts and will produce as many weapons “as are necessary for the effective defense of our Fatherland,” Medvedev added.

In December last year, Medvedev was appointed deputy chairman of the Military Industrial Commission (VPK), the main state body for interdepartmental coordination of state defense orders in terms of the development and procurement of weapons and military equipment, as well as the development of a promising military-technical policy.

In June, Russian President Vladimir Putin saidthat all the tasks assigned to the military-industrial complex of Russia will be fulfilled. In January, the president called the work of the defense industry one of the factors for victory in a special military operation.

In April 2023, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, announced that Russian enterprises had used all possible resources to fulfill the multiply increased state defense order. According to him, the output of priority products was increased simultaneously with its improvement based on the experience of the special operation. On March 31, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, at a meeting of the Coordinating Council for meeting the needs of the RF Armed Forces, announced that the government had taken measures to multiply the production of weapons in demand.
