Medvedev ruled out the existence of a world without Russia

The question of the existence of Russia is connected with the existence of the entire civilization, the world without Russia is impossible. Such a statement did Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev in the article “Points of no return” for the newspaper “Izvestia”.

“If the question of the existence of Russia itself is seriously raised, it will not be decided on the Ukrainian front. And together with the question of the further existence of the entire human civilization. And there should be no ambiguity here. We don’t need a world without Russia,” he said.

Medvedev recalled that, as history shows, “any collapsed empire buries half the world under its rubble, or even more.” He added that the West is under the delusion that it can destroy today’s Russia. “It won’t work with the USSR,” the politician emphasized.

The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation again accused Western countries of obstructing the resumption of negotiations on the situation in Ukraine. According to Medvedev, their actions lead to a total fiasco and apocalypse, “when the former life will have to be forgotten for centuries until the smoky blockages cease to emit radiation.”

He stressed that Russia would not allow such a situation, and noted that the key to preserving the future for the world is “the calm power of our country and the authority of its partners.” Medvedev also named “points of no return” in relations with the West – autumn 2008, when Western countries “supported Georgia’s aggression against the Ossetian people,” and spring 2014, when Crimea became part of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin during his address to the Federal Assembly declaredthat the West seeks to transfer the local conflict in Ukraine into a phase of global confrontation, and also wants to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia. At the same time, the head of state announced the suspension of Russia’s participation in START III.

In March 2018, in the film World Order 2018 by journalist Vladimir Solovyov, while discussing the topic of nuclear confrontation, Putin asked the question: “Why do we need such a world if there is no Russia there?” In October of the same year, at a meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club, the president stressed that Russia could only use nuclear weapons in retaliation.

“The aggressor must know that retribution is inevitable, that he will be destroyed. And we, the victims of aggression, we, as martyrs, will go to heaven, and they will simply die, because they will not even have time to repent, ”the Russian leader said then.
