Medvedev ruled out a return to the “bright” European past

Today’s Russia is very different from the country of the “pre-war period”, and a return to the “bright” European future, which the citizens who left the country hope for, is not expected. This statement was made by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

“The representatives of the “honest elite” who have left “there” indulge in sweet dreams about how well our country will live after the fall of the “regime” and return to the non-binary European bosom. <...> But I can say one thing for sure: there will be no return to the “bright” European past for them,” wrote politician in his Telegram channel.

Medvedev noted that leaders and governments “come and go”, but “for decades”, and “sometimes for centuries”, “memory and blood-bonded values” remain. According to the deputy chairman, only people who have forgotten about the death of Russian citizens – civilians and the military – can dream of returning to the “friendly European family”.

He stressed that any political leader who tries to change the discourse of the country’s development that has emerged since 2022 “will be anathematized as a traitor.” Medvedev said that the relocators are “alone and nobody needs them.” They have no hope of a “triumphant return,” he concluded.

This is not the first time Medvedev has commented on the decision of a number of citizens to leave Russia after the start of a special operation in Ukraine. In December 2022 he named people who advocate the defeat of Russia, enemies and traitors, and urged not to let such citizens back into the country. The politician also proposed to cut them off from sources of income in the Russian Federation.

In March 2023, in an interview with Russian media, Medvedev expressed confidencethat the artists who left Russia will return to their homeland, because they “have no audience” abroad. As part of the information marathon “Knowledge” Deputy Chairman named “geeks” of those who fled to the West due to criminal prosecution and call for the demilitarization and denuclearization of Russia. In his opinion, such people want Russia to become “an obedient executor of the will of the United States.” The task of the Russian Federation is to prevent this, he stressed.
