Medvedev proposed to create a sanitary zone near the borders of Lviv

The line of the demilitarized zone of Ukraine should pass along the borders of Lviv to ensure the security of Russia. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

“Yesterday, the President of Russia spoke about the need to create a demilitarized (sanitary) zone for the security of our country. Given the hostile decisions to supply the Kyiv regime with ever more long-range weapons, such a line should pass along the borders of Lvov (Polish Lemberg) in order to play a real defensive role,” wrote He.

Medvedev titled the post on his Telegram channel “Two Good Morning Thoughts.” The second comment of the politician concerned the “proven complicity of Western countries” in undermining the Nord Streams. The deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation said that now Russia has no restrictions to refrain from “destroying the cable communications of our enemies, laid on the ocean floor.”

The day before, on June 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a conversation with military commanders, allowed the creation of a “sanitary zone” on the territory of Ukraine in the event that shelling of the border regions of the Russian Federation continues. “If this continues, then we should, apparently, consider the issue – I say this very carefully – in order to create some kind of sanitary zone on the territory of Ukraine at such a distance from which it would be impossible to get our territory,” he said.

After the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, Western countries began to provide financial assistance to Ukraine and supply it with military equipment and weapons. The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized such supplies. In May, it became known that the UK had handed over Storm Shadow long-range aviation cruise missiles to Ukraine.

In the Kremlin declaredthat such a move by London would require an “adequate response” from the Russian military. Back in February, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warnedthat in the case of deliveries of long-range weapons to Ukraine, Russia will have to move military equipment from its borders to a safe distance.
