Medvedev named three conditions for successful negotiations on Ukraine

The enemy must “crawl on his knees, begging for mercy.” This opinion was expressed by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.

“It is difficult to condemn the desire to end the war. It is impossible to argue with references to the UN Charter, given the understanding that, in addition to sovereignty, there is also the right of nations to self-determination,” wrote he is in his Telegram channel, commenting on the negotiations on Ukraine in Saudi Jeddah.

According to him, peace proposals can only be successful if three conditions are met: the participation of both sides of the conflict, taking into account the historical context and taking into account current realities. Medvedev noted that Ukraine “never existed before 1991.” and “it is a fragment of the Russian Empire”, and also stated that the neighboring country “is in the stage of half-life, and part of its territories has returned to Russia.”

The deputy chairman emphasized that a mediator who is ready to “recognize these obvious things” will have a chance of success in Russian-Ukrainian negotiations. “However, the negotiations themselves are not needed yet. The enemy must crawl on his knees, begging for mercy,” Medvedev concluded.

August 5 in Jeddah started two-day negotiations between national security advisers and political advisers, where Ukraine should present its “peace formula”. About 40 states take part in the meeting, but it takes place without the participation of Russia.
