Medvedev met with Cuban President Bermudez

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev met with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez. About it informs press service of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

It is noted that Medvedev discussed with Bermudez the cooperation of the two states in the field of security, as well as countering sanctions against Russia and Cuba.

“Our countries are under an endless stream of sanctions and restrictions, and in this sense we have something to exchange. The experience that Cuba has accumulated is invaluable. But no sanctions can hold back the development of Cuba and the Russian Federation,” Medvedev said.

The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council added that Russia and Cuba plan to further develop cooperation in the political, economic and other spheres.

He noted that the Cuban leader is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Federal Assembly, as well as other contacts.

Earlier today, the Kremlin press service informedthat the meeting of Russian and Cuban leaders will take place on November 22. In addition to the talks, on the same day the presidents will take part in the unveiling of a monument to Cuban leader Fidel Castro in Moscow.

The President of Cuba flew to Moscow on an official visit on November 19. Prior to this, negotiations on the Russian-Cuban partnership were held by the vice-premiers of the countries Dmitry Chernyshenko and Ricardo Cabrisas.

Representatives of Russia and Cuba discussed issues in the fields of energy, transport logistics, construction and tourism. The topic of cooperation between the two countries in the field of industry, science, education, digitalization, culture and sports was also touched upon.
