Medvedev demanded to increase the production of air defense missiles – Kommersant

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev chaired a meeting of the working group of the military-industrial commission. Dmitry Medvedev said that he recently reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin about especially popular air defense systems and means. During a conversation with the head of state, Mr. Medvedev said that the provision of these systems should be a priority, and received several special instructions from the president.

At the meeting, Dmitry Medvedev said that Western countries would soon supply Ukraine with various types of aircraft and long-range cruise missiles. He also drew attention to the fact that the Ukrainian army is actively using strike-type drones. “In such conditions,” he noted, “it is necessary that our armed forces be sufficiently provided with the most popular anti-aircraft guided missiles for air defense systems.”

On January 30, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu checked the implementation of the state defense order at the Novator experimental design bureau (Almaz Antey concern) and at the machine-building plant named after. M.I. Kalinin in Yekaterinburg. Then the Minister of Defense reportedthat the production of missiles for air defense systems has doubled.
