Deputy Head of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev responded to reports that in the city of Tulchin, Vinnitsa region in Ukraine, monuments to commander Alexander Suvorov and poet Alexander Pushkin were demolished.
In his Telegram channel, Medvedev suggested that instead of Pushkin and Suvorov, monuments would be erected to “various hetmans”, and he quoted from Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel “The White Guard”:
“I would have your hetman,” shouted the elder Turbin, “I would be the first to hang this pretty Ukraine!” Medvedev wrote, quoting the work.
Earlier, some other monuments connected with Russia were demolished or attacked by vandals on the territory of Ukraine.
