Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, said that talk about the “Korean scenario” for Ukraine is “just a wishlist.” He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

Achieving the level of Korea for Ukraine is “a thesis for internal use, nothing more,” Medvedev believes. He added that “Ukrainian propagandists do not write that the division along the 38th parallel (the demilitarized separating zone between the DPRK and South Korea – Vedomosti) created two independent countries”, and Donbass and other territories became part of Russia, “which is largest state.”

On January 8, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov said that Russia could offer to end hostilities according to the “Korean” scenario. The plan involves the division of Ukraine and the legalization of Kyiv’s loss of control over the territories in the east of the country, by analogy with the “38th parallel”. The next day, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov called these statements a “duck”.
