Medvedev called Musk “the last adequate person” in North America

This was stated in X by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.
The fact that Musk ordered access to Starlink in Crimea to be cut off earlier today informed CNN with a link to an excerpt from a new biography of the billionaire authored by Walter Isaacson. Musk, Isaacson writes, feared that Russia might use nuclear weapons after the Ukrainian attack.
“If what Isaacson wrote in his book is true, then it seems that Musk is the last adequate person in North America,” Medvedev wrote.
Musk announced the start of Starlink operation in Ukraine at the end of February 2022; Ukrainian officials had previously approached him with a corresponding request. The network is designed to provide broadband Internet access.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine use Starlink to ensure communication of their units on the front line, collect intelligence information, and coordinate drone strikes. In February 2023, SpaceX restricted the use of Starlink to control Ukrainian drones, saying that the Ukrainian military’s use of Starlink “as a weapon” was not part of the terms of the agreement.
In the company then noted, which consider it normal to use the system for communication, but not for offensive purposes. The agreement initially had humanitarian goals, including providing broadband Internet access to hospitals and banks.
