Medvedev called for the expulsion of EU ambassadors from Russia for refusing to meet with Lavrov

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev called for the expulsion of EU ambassadors from the Russian Federation for refusing to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“This (refusal to meet with the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.— “Kommersant”) completely contradicts the very idea of the existence of diplomatic missions and the appointment of ambassadors. In fact, all these ambassadors need to be kicked out of Russia, and the level of diplomatic relations should be lowered. These are not ambassadors, but political imbeciles who do not understand their real tasks,” wrote the deputy chairman of the Security Council on the social network X.

March 4 Sergey Lavrov reported, that he invited European ambassadors for a conversation before the presidential elections, but they refused two days before the meeting. He added that the Russian authorities have materials on how the embassies of the European Union countries are preparing to interfere in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation. At the EU Permanent Representation explained “Kommersant” that the ambassadors rejected the proposal for a meeting due to a low level of trust.
