Medvedev and Rublev on the way to the next final

Russian tennis players Daniil Medvedev and Andrei Rublev advanced to the fourth round of the tournament in Indian Wells. Karen Khachanov lost in the third round and ended the performance.

Russian Daniil Medvedev reached the 1/8 finals of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournament in Indian Wells, beating Belarusian Ilya Ivashko in three sets with a score of 6:2, 3:6, 6:1. In the first game, the Russian tennis player confidently dealt with his opponent, having issued a double break. However, Ilya Ivashko was able to impose a fight on the Russian in the second set, add to the game by the middle of the game and make a decisive break with the score 4:3 in his favor. However, in the final set, Medvedev’s class made itself felt: he literally swept his opponent off the court. Daniil had a triple chance to complete the game with a beautiful score of 6:0, but the Belarusian won back his serve, but in the very next game Medvedev removed all questions about the winner of this match.

Medvedev lost a set for the first time since the quarterfinals of the Doha tournament against Christopher O’Connell. After that, he won eight consecutive matches in two sets. Now his unbeaten streak has reached 16 matches.

Daniil also complained about the quality of the courts at the tournament in the USA: “In Indian Wells, you need to try your best and hope for the best. I have seen many cases where someone lost a set 0:6 or 1:6, while demonstrating a decent level of play. It is very difficult to win points here. Everything is solved by a mistake after 25 hits.

On any other hard surface, I’m better at implementing my game plan. And here you can inflict 10 good blows, and this will not be enough. It’s hard. But there’s nothing to be done. I’m just trying to fight – even though I don’t really like the conditions.”

The next opponent of Medvedev will be the representative of Germany, Alexander Zverev.

Andrei Rublev was opposed by Hugo Humbert. The Frenchman brought Andrey some difficulties in the first set, but he couldn’t even bring the matter to a tie-break – 7:5. In the second game, the second racket of Russia confidently brought the matter to victory – 6:3.

In the next match, Rublev will play with Cameron Norrie from Great Britain. Andrei spoke about the upcoming confrontation: “He is a completely different player, although he is also left-handed [как Умбер]. To be honest, Cameron reminds me a little of Medvedev. He also likes very low and flat backhand shots. He likes to counterattack and wait for mistakes, forcing you to take additional hits. Wait and see. We have a very difficult match ahead, we’ll see how the game develops.”

But Karen Khachanov upset his fans. In three sets, he lost to the young Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich-Fokine – 3:6, 6:1, 4:6.
