Medvedchuk named three conditions for defusing the crisis in Ukraine

Ukrainian opposition politician and businessman Viktor Medvedchuk named three conditions necessary to defuse the conflict in Ukraine. This is what he’s talking about told in his article for the newspaper “Arguments and Facts”.

According to Medvedchuk, Russia must have guarantees that Western countries will not subject it to “military intervention in the ‘export of democracy’.” “Without these guarantees, any country can be declared aggressive, backward, corrupt and undemocratic, which will supposedly provide justification for military intervention,” Medvedchuk said. He also noted that now “the West wants to regain its dominance with the help of “miracle weapons”, which it transfers to Ukraine.”

In mid-August, Russian President Vladimir Putin statedthat Western countries, by providing military support to Kyiv, are helping to fuel the conflict in Ukraine. The head of state noted that NATO member countries continue to build up offensive capabilities and are trying to transfer military confrontation to outer and information space.

After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, the parties held negotiations several times in February and March 2022. The last, fourth, meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations was held in Istanbul. After this, the process was frozen because Kyiv withdrew from it. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky signed a decree refusing to negotiate with Russia as long as Vladimir Putin is its president. Moscow has repeatedly said that it is open to negotiations, but their holding is impossible because of this document.
