Ambassador: Copenhagen rejects most requests in the Nord Stream bombing case

Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin said that Denmark refused to Russia not only to investigate sabotage on the Nord Stream 1 (Nord Stream 2) gas pipelines, but also to fulfill many requests in this case. “There is still no interaction with Denmark in the investigation of these sabotages,” he said in an interview with RIA Novosti. According to Barbin, the Danish Prosecutor General’s Office received a response to only one request.

According to him, in June the Danish prosecutor’s office reported that a “cylindrical-shaped” object discovered in February by Nord Stream AG 2, raised from the bottom of the Baltic Sea, was identified as an empty used smoke buoy.

On the night of September 27, explosions occurred on both lines of Nord Stream 1. The gas pipeline operator Nord Stream AG announced serious damage; it could not predict when the pipeline would resume operation. The second gas pipeline, Nord Stream 2, was also damaged; one line was damaged. The pipeline was no longer put into operation. Gazprom specialists found two 5-meter-deep craters at the explosion site. The Russian side was not allowed to participate in the investigation. The head of state accused “the entire continent” of undermining the energy security.
