It will take about a year to create an updated school history textbook for a working group led by Vladimir Medinsky, an aide to the Russian president and ex-minister of culture. This was told by the head of the Ministry of Education Sergei Kravtsov.
“Today it was decided that Vladimir Rostislavovich Medinsky will head the working group as the head of the working group on historical education,” Mr. Kravtsov told TASS. He clarified that the textbook is not created from scratch and can be completed within a year.
On August 30, Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Andrey Turchak toldthat a new textbook on the history of Russia will include chapters on the military operation in Ukraine.
In early 2013, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with initiative to create a single line of textbooks on the history of the country for secondary school students. The study of history according to the new state standard began in Russian schools in 2016.
According to a number of media outlets (in particular, Mediazona, recognized as a foreign agent), the manuals approved for use in educational institutions contain biased information about the role of Ukraine in the historical processes associated with Russia.
