Medinsky: Russia has no conflict with Ukraine

There is no conflict between Russia and Ukraine, but there is a conflict of “traditional colonialists”. About it declared Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky in an interview RBC.

“We have no conflict with Ukraine. We have, unfortunately, a conflict between traditional colonialists, who have been building successful colonial empires for centuries, with a territory that did not want to be a colony,” Medinsky said. He also assured that he does not feel hatred for the people of Ukraine and he is “deeply sympathetic” to him.

According to him, Ukrainian propaganda is trying to engage in historical reprogramming. “This is historical fantasy. Muscovites are hobbits. And they are elves. This is from the same series. It has nothing to do with science,” the adviser believes.

In an interview with the newspaper Medinsky toldthat schoolchildren need to be explained why the military operation in Ukraine was inevitable, and therefore a section on its conduct will appear in new history textbooks.

According to him, ten years ago, when he was the Minister of Culture, he advocated that the textbook of modern Russian history should end in 1999, when Vladimir Putin became president of the Russian Federation, “because further is already part of social science, political information, as spoke in the Soviet years. At that time, this idea was not supported in the scientific community, and now Medinsky realized that he was wrong, since now history is being used for political purposes.

On January 30, Russian Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov announced that a new history textbook with a section on a special military operation could appear in Russian schools from September 1, 2023. He specified that a textbook for high school students would be ready in March.

April 10 Kravtsov toldthat the general history and the history of Russia in the new textbook are planned to be combined into one course, where Russia will be at the center of history. A working group headed by Medinsky is responsible for the creation of a new history textbook, Kravtsov reported in December 2022. Then the minister admitted that it would take about a year to write. The press service of the Ministry of Education noted that a team of historians, sociologists and psychologists is working on the textbook.
