Vladimir Medinsky revealed in a conversation with journalists what demands were put forward to Kyiv by the Russian delegation, which he headed, at the negotiations in the spring of 2022.

According to him, Russia demanded not only Ukraine’s neutrality and refusal to join NATO, but also recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea.

In addition, Medinsky said, Russia sought recognition of the independence of the Donbass republics, based on the need to protect the Russian-speaking population of these regions.

At the same time, Medinsky emphasized, Russia never had a goal to conquer Ukraine.

“The West and Zelensky have drawn our countries into full-fledged military action,” Medinsky expressed his opinion.
