Chairman of the Russian military history (RVIO) and presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky said that he was deprived of the title of honorary professor at the Universita Ca Foscari University of Venice. Mr. Medinsky received a letter from the university informing him of the deprivation of his title.
“I received a funny letter from Universit Ca’ Foscari Venezia (Italy) about the revocation of my Honorary Professor title. They once appropriated it on their own initiative (didn’t ask anyone)), now they’re being taken away on their own initiative, ”wrote Mr. Medinsky in Telegram.
According to Mr. Medinsky, he was deprived of his degree because he “plays a paramount role as a representative of the government of the Russian Federation during an unacceptable and bloody invasion of a sovereign country.”
The title of Honorary Professor of Universit Ca’ Foscari Venezia was awarded to Vladimir Medinsky on May 15, 2014. In the same year, the network society “Dissernet” conducted an examination of the dissertation of Vladimir Medinsky. According to the society, it contained significant borrowings.
In this regard, four professors of Universit Ca’ Foscari Venezia opposed the award of such a title to Mr. Medinsky. The vice-rector for culture and relations with scientific and cultural institutions of the university, Silvia Burini, who presented him with an honorary professorship, resigned after 200 professors and about a thousand Italian students wrote a petition demanding her dismissal.
