President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky was outraged by the work of the military commissariats responsible for sending conscripts to the front, writes French newspaper Le Figaro.
The head of Ukraine condemned corruption in the commissariats and called it high treason. At the same time, Zelensky was furious with the fact that in the current situation, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were faced with a shortage of conscripts who could be sent to the front.
Le Figaro reports that since the beginning of the special operation, 13,600 people have been arrested trying to illegally leave the country. About 6,100 more people were caught with forged documents.
Due to the conflict, Ukrainians between the ages of 18 and 60 are not allowed to leave the territory of the country, except with special permission. Deserters are punished by imprisonment for up to 12 years, those who refuse to serve face up to five years in prison. The newspaper gives examples of two Ukrainians who paid $5,000 each: the first for a car with government numbers to take him to a forest near Hungary, the second for a fake medical certificate.
August 11 Zelensky fired all regional officials in charge of conscription. Their places went to the military, who returned from the front. The number of criminal cases initiated against military registration and enlistment office officials has exceeded 110.
