Presidents of Ukraine and the United States Vladimir Zelensky and Joe Biden will meet at the UN General Assembly, NBC reported.
It is unclear where exactly the meeting will take place, in New York or at the White House, a senior Ukrainian official said. Speeches by Biden and Zelensky at the UN General Assembly are scheduled for September 19.
The last time the leaders of the two countries met was at the NATO summit in Vilnius on July 12. Zelensky assessed the meeting with Biden as meaningful. In particular, the presidents discussed the supply of long-range missiles for Ukraine.
September 12 Reuters citing sources in Washington reportedthat the administration of US President Joe Biden is close to approving the sending of long-range missiles filled with cluster munitions to Ukraine. We are talking about ATACMS tactical missile systems with a range of up to 306 km and GMLRS-controlled MLRS with a range of up to 72 km.
In early July, the White House announced the transfer of cluster munitions to Kyiv. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said then that if cluster munitions are supplied to Ukraine, the Russian military will be forced to use similar weapons against the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
