Media: Xi Jinping may miss the G20 summit in India

Chinese President Xi Jinping is likely to miss the G20 summit in New Delhi. About it informs Reuters, citing sources familiar with the situation in India and China.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang is expected to lead the Chinese delegation to the summit, several unnamed officials told the news agency. The interlocutors added that they did not know the reason for such a decision. The Foreign Ministries of China and India did not respond to requests from Reuters.

The agency notes that at the G20 summit, a meeting between Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden, who had previously confirmed your participation in the event. The leaders have not met in person since the last G20 summit held in Indonesia in November 2022.

The G20 meeting will be held in Delhi on September 9-10. Formerly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation confirmedthat the Russian delegation at the event will be headed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov declaredthat Putin does not plan to personally attend the G20 summit.
