NBC: Republicans are preparing assistance from Ukraine to Kyiv in the form of a loan

Representatives of the US Republican Party in Congress are preparing an alternative aid package for the Kyiv regime, while part of the funds could be provided to Ukraine in the form of a loan, NBC reported.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, as well as the chairmen of key House committees, are reportedly working on this option.

The possibility of providing non-military assistance on credit was announced by the head of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, Michael McCaul. According to him, these funds could be used to support the Ukrainian government, and the collateral could be Russian assets frozen after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine.

At the same time, there are opinions in the United States that the option of giving Ukraine a loan is “not ideal”, as it could harm it in the future.

Currently, the request of President Joe Biden’s administration to allocate $60 billion to the Kyiv regime has not yet received approval in the US Congress. Funds for Ukraine from the budget ran out in December last year, while assistance is provided from previously approved aid packages.
