Ukraine is likely to play a key role in who wins the US presidential election next year, and the outcome of the Ukrainian conflict may depend on who becomes the head of the United States, writes Newsweek.

The publication notes that not only US President Joe Biden and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky “hope for a certain result” in the elections.

Election preparations are also being closely watched by European leaders who want to see if they will have a partner in the United States if Biden wins, or a “frenemy friend” if Donald Trump wins, or another Republican with a similar position to Trump will win the race.

“And it’s no secret to anyone who Russian President Vladimir Putin is rooting for,” the article emphasizes.

It is also noted that, according to polls, the isolationist tendencies characteristic of Trump and Florida Governor DeSantis are popular among Republican voters.

Earlier, Trump said that if he wins the presidential election, he will be able to prevent World War 3. Also, the ex-US President linked the multibillion-dollar US aid to Kyiv with the big earnings of the Biden family in Ukraine and called on Congress to refuse to allocate new amounts.

DeSantis has argued that involvement in the Ukrainian conflict is not in the vital national interest of the United States. He believes that Washington should seek peace between Kiev and Moscow, and the United States should not provide Ukraine with such assistance that will entail the deployment of American troops or allow Kyiv to conduct offensive operations outside the borders of Ukraine. He believes that it is impossible to send F-16 fighters and long-range missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier, CNN reported that the Ukrainian conflict will be determined, among other things, by the change of power in the United States, therefore, the fate of Ukraine may be in the hands of American voters.
