Media: scammers have returned to the old trick in stores

In Russia, cases are again being recorded where scammers try to rob their victims at store cash registers, said lawyer Elena Kuderko.
In a comment to RIA Novosti, she noted that scammers are again asking to pay for a potential victim’s purchase in exchange for cash. This method has been used by them for quite a long time; attackers usually justify this by the absence of an ATM nearby.
As a rule, this is explained by the fact that money is urgently needed, but there is no ATM nearby. Usually the card is stolen from the criminals, and after the “purchase” the money is debited from him, and the one who agreed to “help” the scammers is forced to give explanations to law enforcement agencies.
