Media reported on searches in the case of ex-deputy Ponomarev

Investigators are conducting searches at the administrators of Telegram channels in the case of former State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia). This was reported by RIA Novosti and TASS with reference to sources in law enforcement agencies, as well as regional media.
In particular, searches are taking place at the home of the founder of the Nomination platform, associate professor of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University Mikhail Lobanov, who in 2021 participated in the elections to the State Duma, but did not pass. In addition to Lobanov, searches are also taking place at the homes of former Moscow municipal deputies Sergei Tsukasov and Vladimir Zalishchak. All of them were participants in the so-called “Congress of People’s Deputies”, which was held from 4 to 7 November in Poland, writes TASS. Ponomarev was the organizer of this event.
According to RIA Novosti, the searches also pass from the administrators of the Telegram channel “February Morning”. During the investigation, a computer and documents were confiscated, security officials are checking administrators and former deputies, including for possible links with the SBU and other foreign intelligence services.
Ponomarev announced wanted on 8 October. Prior to this, on August 30, the Koptevsky Court of Moscow arrested Ponomarev in absentia in the case of spreading deliberately false information about the use of the Russian Armed Forces motivated by political hatred.
At the beginning of September the media reported about searches at the homes of administrators of YouTube and Telegram channels associated with Ponomarev, who on August 21 made a statement about the murder of 29-year-old Daria Dugina, the daughter of the philosopher, ideologist of “Eurasianism” Alexander Dugin. According to him, a certain pro-Ukrainian organization is involved in it, which, according to him, operates on the territory of Russia.
After that, the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Vasily Piskarev sent appeals to the Prosecutor General’s Office and the TFR with a request to give a legal assessment of this statement.
In April 2015, the State Duma deprived Ponomarev of immunity and agreed to initiate a criminal case against him for complicity in embezzlement of $ 750,000 from the funds of the fund “Skolkovo“. He was put on the international wanted list. The deputy himself left Russia for the United States, in recent years, in his own words, he has been living in Ukraine. October 21 Ministry of Justice turned on Ponomarev to the register of individuals-foreign agents.
