Russian intelligence received information about the Ukrainian nationalists’ preparation for a breakthrough into Russian territory within 2 weeks; the country’s President Vladimir Putin was informed, journalist Pavel Zarubin reported in the “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin” on the TV channel “Russia 1”.
Zarubin noted that in preparation for provocations by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Belgorod and Kursk regions, advance preparations were made. In addition, instead of conscript soldiers, contract soldiers and special forces were stationed at the border.
On March 15, it was reported that armed formations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were attempting to break into the territory of the Belgorod region. During the failed attack, the Ukrainian nationalists lost 70 percent of their personnel and three tanks.
