NYT: Israel is behind explosions at Iran’s largest gas pipeline

Israel is behind the recent explosions at Iran’s largest gas pipeline, according to a New York Times report.

The explosions took place on February 14, after the explosion a fire started on the gas pipeline.

The New York Times story cited the opinions of two unnamed Western officials, as well as a military expert close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The explosions in the story are attributed to a “sneak attack” by Israeli forces. At the same time, according to one Western representative, the strikes were rather symbolic and were supposed to demonstrate Israeli potential to Tehran. The New York Times also notes that Israeli intelligence services were also behind the explosion that occurred on Thursday at a plant in the suburbs of Tehran.

The method of striking the objects is not disclosed; it is only emphasized that in both cases the explosions sounded simultaneously.

The New York Times’ Iranian interlocutor also notes that Tehran also considers Israel to be involved in the explosions.

On Thursday, the Iranian Fars news agency reported a fire in a Tehran suburb at a chemical solvent production plant. According to the fire chief, the fire could have started due to a leak in the fuel tanks.
