Media: House of Representatives will summon Biden’s son and brother for questioning

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives will call President Joe Biden’s son Hunter and his brother James to testify as part of the impeachment investigation of the current head of state. writes AP.

It is expected that subpoenas will be sent to Biden’s relatives, as well as former business partner Rob Walker, today, November 8.

Republicans, as noted, have so far been unable to provide evidence of the president’s direct involvement in any wrongdoing, but argue that the evidence they have uncovered paints a disturbing picture of “influence peddling” on the part of the Biden family.

The start of an investigation by Republicans in the House of Representatives became known in mid-September. As Vedomosti previously wrote, the investigation into the impeachment proceedings against President Joe Biden is unlikely to yield results, but could become an important part of the Republicans’ campaign to discredit the current president. As experts have noted, the Republicans do not intend to remove Biden from office, but to gain greater access to information about him.

Rumors about members of the Biden family using his position to achieve personal goals have been circulating in the media for several years. His son Hunter’s activities in Ukraine were widely publicized when Biden Sr. was vice president in the administration of President Barack Obama (2009–2017). Hunter Biden joined the board of directors of the gas production company Burisma (developing fields in the Dnieper-Donetsk, Carpathian and Azov basins) in 2014.

In 2016, Joe Biden, in order to protect his son, put pressure on Kyiv to fire the country’s Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin, who initiated a criminal case against Burisma management. Since 2014, it was Biden who oversaw the Ukrainian foreign policy direction of the Obama administration. Biden himself has repeatedly denied his personal involvement in the Burisma case.
