US President Joe Biden will approve a government funding bill without allocating aid to Ukraine and Israel if the Senate passes it. About it reports CNN, citing a White House source.
“If he [законопроект] will be adopted by the Senate, the president will sign a resolution that will maintain the current level of funding and will not contain harmful political factors,” the channel’s interlocutor said.
At the same time, the White House representative noted that the US Congress must also resolve “urgent issues” related to financing Israel and Ukraine, the allocation of humanitarian aid, ensuring border security, etc.
Earlier, the US House of Representatives approved a bill according to which the US government will be financed in two stages. Some departments will be provided with support until January 19, the rest, including the Ministry of Defense, until February 2. The bill was proposed by Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson.
The bill will then be sent to the Senate. It must be approved before November 17 – the expiration of the temporary budget resolution adopted at the end of September and the onset of the shutdown. On November 14, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer announced his intention to consider the chamber’s proposal.
