In Blagoveshchensk, Amur Region, competitions of the Russian Championship in orienteering were held. The organizers of the competition put the tracks on the territory of the Belogorye ski complex. Sevastopol athletes led by coach Tatyana Kondratyeva showed a high level of training and brought six medals, four of which were of the highest standard.

The six-hour time difference between the Amur and the Crimea required acclimatization to the new time zone.

On the first day, the athletes competed in the cross-country of their choice after the start, independently determined which control points from the total number of those standing on the terrain they needed to find and chose the best path. In group F16, it was necessary to collect marks from 11 control points. The best result out of 43 athletes was shown by Ruslana Ryzhikova, who finished in the 16th minute. The silver medalist was almost a minute behind the Balaklava athlete. Her brother Sergey Ryzhikov competed in the M18 group of masters and finished with the best time of 19 minutes. A small mistake in choosing a control did not prevent him from winning. Sergei took an extra extra point, but not to the detriment of the result.

On the second day in the cross-long discipline, Ruslana again took the gold medal. She finished in the 19th minute with a one-minute lead. Sergei Ryzhikov brought his team a silver medal that day, 25 seconds behind the leader.

On the third day, the competitions were held in the cross-classic discipline with a general start. With a general start, there is a chance of running like a “train” when a real tail lines up behind the leader. It is important to be able to break away and not be a guiding star for the entire caravan. After the first two points, Ryzhikov managed to solve this problem and he came to the finish line first of 30 applicants with a score of 29 minutes. A minute later, the second Balaklava runner Alexei Mishchenko finished. The silver medal for him is a well-deserved reward.

Egor Vedmetsky from Simferopol performed successfully, showing the fourth result in the M12 group on the first day. On the second day, he won the gold medal, as did his teammate Maxim Kuklenko in the M14 group. Timur Vedmetsky was sixth in M16, Alexander Goncharuk was fifth in M20. On the third day, Yegor Vedmetsky took gold, Maxim Kuklenko – silver.

From August 4 to August 8, the Crimeans will start in the Tambov region in the next Russian Championship. Sets of awards are played in the disciplines of cross-classic, cross-long with a general start and in the cross-country of the three-stage relay.
