Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said that the routes of the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) will be extended to 11 regions of the Central Transport Hub (CTH). He recalled that the construction of the MCD was the first stage in the development of the central hub, reports “RIA News”.

“With eight hundred million passengers a year, it is one of the largest transport hubs in the world. Today we see that there is a need to extend the MCD to all major regional capitals. Moscow, together with Russian Railways and the government, is working on a further extension of these railway routes to 11 cities,” the Deputy Prime Minister told reporters.

According to Mr. Khusnullin, approaches to extending the MCD are now being prepared, a feasibility study is being developed and the volume of necessary investments in the project is being assessed. The Deputy Prime Minister hopes that the extension of routes will be implemented on a parity basis between the state budget, the Russian Railways budget and the Moscow budget.

TsTU is a network of high-speed trains that will connect Moscow with the nearest regions: Tula, Kaluga, Vladimir, Ivanovo and seven other regions. In October 2023, Moscow authorities announced that they plan to connect the cities of the Central Transport Center with electric trains by 2030.
