Mazur, Kozlovskaya and Ratner congratulated the citizens of Tomsk on the Day of Athlete

This holiday has been celebrated in Russia on the second Saturday of the last summer month since 1980. But for the first time, the All-Union Athlete’s Day was established in 1939 to promote sports and a healthy lifestyle in the Soviet Union. Now healthy lifestyle is one of the main trends in the lives of many residents of the Tomsk region.

“The development of sports infrastructure is one of the most significant social tasks of our work. Great athletes are born on yard sports grounds and in school sections. And the number of new names in the sports elite of the Tomsk region is constantly growing. This year alone, 22 residents of the region became masters of sports of Russia,” says the congratulatory message signed by the Governor of the Tomsk Region Vladimir Mazur and the speaker of the regional Legislative Duma Oksana Kozlovskaya.

In turn, acting Mayor of Tomsk Mikhail Ratner noted that about 300 thousand residents of the city go in for sports and physical education only according to official statistics.

“Today, there are more than 1,500 different sports facilities in the city – from stadiums and large complexes to small playgrounds with exercise equipment. New physical culture and sports facilities and health trails are being created, including on the outskirts of Tomsk. This work will certainly be continued,” the mayor emphasized.

By the way, the day before in Tomsk, on the basis of school No. 67, the first in the city was solemnly opened multifunctional “smart” sports ground.
