On the Koltsevaya Line of the Moscow Metro, work is being completed to switch the automation and telemechanics of train traffic (ATDP), which is responsible for the movement of trains and the fulfillment of the schedule. Thanks to the new system, it is now possible to increase the frequency of trains during rush hour.
According to the Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government for Transport, the most modern Russian technologies are used in the modernization of the Koltsevaya Line.
“On behalf of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, we are using the most advanced technologies to upgrade the metro infrastructure. On the Koltsevaya Line, we are implementing a new Russian system of automation and telemechanics for train traffic, based on microprocessors. Thanks to the new system, trains on one of the most popular metro lines will run even more often during rush hours, and passenger trips will be even more comfortable,” said Liksutov.
Earlier, 34 pairs of trains ran along the Circle Line during the peak hours of working days, and starting from January 9, there will be 36 pairs of them. This will create more than 2.5 thousand additional passenger seats in each direction – there will be even more space in the cars.
Also, the new system is much more reliable and convenient than the old one: with it, the restoration of the schedule will be 5 times faster, and the maintenance time will be reduced by 5-6 times.
