Matytsin powerfully responded to the IOC and WADA

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) are trying to maintain a monopoly in the governance of world sports and therefore continue to put pressure on independent sports organizations – both international and national. This was stated by the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin.
Earlier, the IOC asked the NOCs of various countries to “exercise caution regarding the World Friendship Games.” They are planned to be held in 2024 in Russia. And the head of WADA, Witold Banka, said that the possible participation of signatories of the WADA code in the Friendship Games is fraught with consequences.
The Russian Minister of Sports, in his reaction to these statements, indicated that to a large extent it was the IOC that initiated the process of politicization of world sports when it sent recommendations to federations on restrictions on the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus. The IOC and WADA, as Matytsin noted, continue to put pressure on independent sports organizations, trying to maintain a monopoly in the management of world sports.
The official channel of the department quotes the minister as saying: “This fundamentally contradicts the values of the global sports family.” As Matytsin recalled, this is equal treatment of all its members, freedom of choice and protection of the interests of athletes. In addition, the values include strict observance of the rights of athletes to participate in competitions.
