Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin commented on the words of Olympic champion and State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina about Kamila Valieva. According to him, Rodnina’s words are based on speculation and are unacceptable.
Rodnina previously stated that the Russian side in the Valieva doping case should have “better lied” because no one believes in the version with an accidentally drunk glass.
“Such public assessments based on one’s own conjectures, not supported by knowledge of the details of the process, are unacceptable, this is a violation of the ethics and culture of the sports community,” Matytsin responded to Rodnina.
He emphasized that it is necessary to treat victories, coaches and athletes with care and respect, and not create provocative news feeds.
