Matvienko: Putin pulled Russia out of the abyss and restored dignity

Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko said that after the collapse of the USSR, difficult times came to the country, from which Vladimir Putin saved Russia.
“In the 1990s, we were hanging over an abyss,” Matvienko said during her speech at the forum.
According to her, “step by step he began to pull our country out of the abyss,” this became possible “thanks to the experience, tact, and diplomacy of our president.”
She also told the forum participants that “in 23 years we have realized that we are a separate, unique civilization.”
“He restored dignity to our country,” Matvienko added.
