Friends of the famous Russian mathematician Grigory Perelman, who proved the Poincaré conjecture and refused the millionth prize for it, reported his disappearance.
In a conversation with MK, the neighbors of the scientist living in St. Petersburg said that they had not seen him for several months. According to Perelman’s acquaintances, although he always led a secluded lifestyle, he was still regularly seen in nearby grocery stores.
“Perelman is missing,” his neighbor told MK. “I can’t imagine what could have happened.”
According to the man, he was visited by thoughts that the mathematician could leave the country, although for this “he had to be put in order” – we are talking about the unusual appearance of the scientist, whom passers-by sometimes mistook for a homeless man on the street. The neighbor suggested that “something extraordinary had to happen for him to change his image,” but theoretically relatives could intervene in the situation.
“I heard that his sister lives in Sweden. Perhaps she could have taken her brother away…” our interlocutor added.
