Mathematical holiday for schoolchildren

On February 19, in Moscow, at the sites of city schools and universities for students in grades 6-7, the annual Mathematical holiday will be held. To participate, you must register at site. The place of participation in the holiday can be chosen during registration. The event was organized by the Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Moscow Center for Continuous Mathematical Education, the Higher School of Economics, the Center for Pedagogical Excellence, and the Moscow Department of Education and Science.
The children are invited to choose one of two forms of participation in the holiday: classical – in this case, students will solve problems of an increased (Olympiad) level of complexity, or simple – here the tasks will be selected from the training program within the framework of the “Mathematical Vertical”. To prepare for the holiday, you can see examples of tasks from past seasons on the event website.
According to the organizers of the holiday, in order to solve problems, schoolchildren will need imagination and ingenuity. Scientific director Center for Pedagogical Excellence Ivan Yashchenko of the Moscow Department of Education and Science says that often after participating in a mathematical holiday, a child wakes up with an interest in mathematics and related disciplines.
“That is why we invite children to participate in the holiday, spend time with like-minded people, and perhaps this is how schoolchildren will begin their path to scientific, engineering or other discoveries,” Ivan Yashchenko explained.
For the guests of the event, it is planned to hold lectures by leading teachers of mathematics, trial mathematical games with the analysis of tasks, as well as master classes on teaching non-standard approaches to solving mathematical problems.
