Master of sports, 19 records and absurd football: the main thing in sports for a week on Sakhalin

Surprisingly, there is absolutely no reason for pride here, because the island team lost. The fact is that on October 30, Sakhalin hosted the 19th round of the Russian football championship among teams of the second league, in which Sakhalin hosted Sakhalinets from Moscow at the Spartak stadium.

During the first half, the game was equal, and there were so few scoring chances that the regional sports ministry compared them to birds flying to the middle of the Tatar Strait. Although once the ball even went into the Sakhalin goal net, the goal was canceled due to offside.

After the break, the guests are not something to be activated. Nevertheless, they were able to make the most of the minimum of opportunities, and scored three goals: on 56 minutes, Ilya Rubtsov responded to a pass from his own half of the field, pushed through two Sakhalin defenders and shot accurately. At 68 minutes, he also received an accurate pass from Timofey Baraboshkin, who came on as a substitute, and sent the ball into the far corner. And in the 72nd minute, Timofey Baraboshkin himself scored. He struck from twenty meters, after which the ball was in the goal.

For the remaining twenty minutes, the home team could not change anything, the game ended with a score of 3:0 in favor of Sakhalinets. For Sakhalin, this was the fourth home defeat in a row.

Nineteen records of the Far East

In Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, the results of the Far Eastern Federal District swimming championship and championship were summed up. Recall that 284 athletes from 10 regions of the Far Eastern Federal District competed for medals. For four days, swimmers competed in medley, freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke and backstroke at distances of 50, 100, 200 and 1500 meters, as well as in the 4×50 meter mixed relay. Competitions were organized on the basis of the school of water sports.

“Sakhalin hosted the Far Eastern competitions for the second time in a row. This is a responsible and significant event for us. Everything went at a decent level, this is confirmed by the positive feedback from our guests. I also note that within the framework of the competition, the athletes set nineteen records in the Far East. This means that the level of swimmers is growing from year to year, ”said Artem Zolotarev, chief judge of the competition, head coach of the water sports school.

As a result, Vladislav Yasnev from Sakhalin won gold at distances of 50, 100 and 200 meters freestyle, Sofia Tutasova – in the discipline of 50, 100 and 200 meters on the back, Vladislav Larin best of all overcame 100 meters butterfly, 50, 100 and 200 meters on the back, 100 meters medley, and Marina Shuvaeva – 800 and 1500 meters freestyle.

According to the medal standings, Sakhalin became the fourth. Khabarovsk team performed best in the tournament, swimmers from the Magadan Region came second, and Primorye residents came third.

“I swam freestyle, butterfly and competed in individual medley. On the final day, she swam with a very good result for herself – she went out of 28 seconds in the 50-meter freestyle and improved her result. I won’t tell you about tactics – it’s a secret. Basically, in training, they worked on sprints. On Sakhalin, I liked the pool, here the water is lighter and more pleasant, ”said the athlete Varvara Gvozdik from Primorye.

Wins not at home

Last week, Roman Zelenin and Ksenia Vashchinskaya from Sakhalin won medals at the Bronze Horseman All-Russian Kyokushin competition. The competitions were held in St. Petersburg. More than 1,100 athletes from 42 regions of Russia fought for the victory.

Ksenia Vashchinskaya, a trainee of coaches Artem Khvorikov and Sergei Kirikov from Korsakov, won the women’s over 40 kg category at the age of 8-9 at the end of the tournament.

Roman Zelenin from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk won the bronze medal in the category for boys weighing 40 kg at the age of 8-9 years.

In the meantime, two major representative judo tournaments were held in Nakhodka. The open regional tournament was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Russian Judo Federation and World Judo Day. About 350 boys and girls from various regions of the Far Eastern Federal District competed for awards. Winners and prize-winners were determined in two age groups: under 13 years old and under 15 years old.

In the older age group, Sakhalin residents – pupils of the School of Sambo and Judo, the Greco-Roman wrestling school – won seven medals. Among them – five gold, one silver and one bronze.

For boys and girls under 18, an inter-regional judo tournament dedicated to the 104th anniversary of the Leninist Komsomol “The Legacy of the Winners” was held.

“Competitions dedicated to the formation of the Lenin Komsomol is a sports and educational project “The Legacy of the Winners”, which was launched in 2016 to promote physical culture and sports among the youth. The competitions are traditional and are being held for the fourth time,” the organizers explained.

Athletes from ten regions of the Far Eastern Federal District competed for medals. The team of the Sakhalin Region included students of the Sambo and Judo School, the Greco-Roman Wrestling School and the Kholmsk Sports School. They managed to win nine medals – two gold, two silver, five bronze.

But the athletes Anastasia Murzina and Dmitry Ulyanchev showed good results in a rather rare sport. Pupils of the equestrian club “Golden Mustang” took part in the all-Russian show jumping competition Maxima Stables in Moscow.

Previously, the island athletes attended a master class by Igor Samodurovsky, coach of the Russian youth team in show jumping. And after – they performed on the route with an obstacle height of 100 centimeters for cleanliness and agility.

Athletes from the national team of the Sakhalin region competed in the show jumping discipline, where a rider on a horse must overcome obstacles for a while. This is one of the most spectacular equestrian sports. Anastasia Murzina won silver on a horse named Calista.

New master of sports

On Sakhalin last week there was one more master of sports. The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin signed an order to award the sports title “Master of Sports of Russia” to skier Sofya Kuznetsova.

The islander fulfilled the standard, having won a bronze medal in the finals of the XI winter Spartakiad of Russian students. The competition was held at the Republican Ski Complex named after Raisa Smetanina in Syktyvkar back in March 2022, and Sofia Kuznetsova showed the third result in the freestyle sprint.

Olympic master class

Master classes from eminent athletes on Sakhalin are becoming a good tradition. Last week, four-time Olympic champion, president of the All-Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov spoke with the island swimmers. Now the Olympic champion of 1996, winner of the bronze medal of the 2000 Olympic Games, Honored Master of Sports of Russia in artistic gymnastics Evgeny Podgorny met with the Sakhalin gymnasts.

The athlete was invited to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk by the President of the Sakhalin Artistic Gymnastics Federation Olga Speranskaya.

“We met him at the All-Russian Artistic Gymnastics Tournament for the prizes of the Olympic champion Yevgeny Podgorny. I invited him to visit our region, and he graciously agreed. I am sure that the guys at the master classes will gain new knowledge, as well as successfully work on the mistakes,” shared Olga Speranskaya.

The first meeting was held within the walls of the Vostok training center. The athlete held a warm-up for the young students of the gymnastics department, looked at the skills of the guys, answered their questions and arranged an autograph session.

“You can see the emotions of athletes, the interest of parents to develop their children in this sport. I see that gymnastics in your region is moving in the right direction, a fairly large number of guys are engaged in it, ”said Evgeny Podgorny.

Then, at the Kristall sports school, he met with senior gymnasts. Athletes demonstrated combinations, Tkachev’s flights. Evgeny Podgorny analyzed the guys’ technique, worked with them on the mistakes in performing various combinations.
