Orenburg Mayor Sergei Salmin said that the flood situation in the city has become extremely dangerous. Over the past 10 hours, the water level in the Urals has risen by 40 cm and is now 1143 cm. A mass evacuation has been announced in the city.

The authorities are asking residents of the Grand Park residential complex, the villages named after Kuibyshev and Solnechny, the 23rd and 24th microdistricts, Uralskaya and Donguzskaya streets, the Aviagorodok and Ovchinny Gorodok districts to leave their homes.

“Take documents, medicines, essentials with you and leave your home immediately. The situation is critical, don’t waste time!” — the mayor wrote in his Telegram channel.

At that time, the water level in the Ural River was 897 cm with a critical level of 930 cm. On the same day, a siren sounded in the village of Zverinogolovskoye, Kurgan Region.

Earlier, Orenburg authorities reported that water in the city would reach its peak today, April 12. Then the water will remain at the same level for several days, after which it will gradually begin to recede. In total, more than 10 thousand residential buildings were flooded in the region, 40% of them cannot be restored. A federal state of emergency has been in effect in the region since April 7.
